OUR FIRST FUND WINNER
We’re delighted to announce Scott Pickup as the very first winner of the PRIFF Short Film Fund with his film, The Last Sea Coal.
Set in 1954, the story follows two young Sea Coalers whose dispute over a claim takes a sudden turn, forcing one of them to confront the difficult line between childhood innocence and the realities of survival.
A huge congratulations to Scott! We’re incredibly excited to support The Last Sea Coal and to be part of its journey from script to screen.
PRIFF SHORST FILM FUND POWERED BY GENERA
We partnered with Genera Films to launch PRIFF UK Short Film Fund powered by Genera Films.
The PRIFF Short Film Fund exists to support bold, original short-form storytelling and to help emerging and independent filmmakers take a project from idea to production or help to complete post-production.
Please note that this fund does not cover development. Your project must have an impending shoot date within nine months of receiving funding, or if applying for completion, you may submit with a rough cut.
What We are Offering
The Fund is opened worldwide and the selected project will receive up to £5,000 in production funding or post-production fund or festivals fees.
What to Apply With
A Film Deck which should include the following:
if applying for Production Fund please include:
• synopsis
• shooting location
• cast/crew info
• estimated production dates
• estimated completion date
• total budget & the amount your asking from PRIFF
• a short pitch video (optional)
• a moodboard
• director's vision and statement
• Please also provide within the deck, a link to a live detailed budget

Feb/ March 2026 (TBC) - Live Pitch session
31 March 2027 - Funded Films Announced
Live Pitch Session
Five shortlisted projects will be invited to take part in a live pitch session, where filmmakers will present their projects in person or online (if filmmaker is unable to travel).
This session is a key part of the fund process and will play a role in the final decision. The winning project will be announced following the live pitches, in July.
